iphone 4 Unveiled Today

The much awaited iphone 4 is unveiled today by Apple CEO steve Jobs in the World Wide developer Conference. The new iPhone features a brand new, 3.5-inch 960-by-640 resolution LCD screen called a Retina display that boasts four times as many pixels as the iPhone 3GS. Apple says the new screen uses pixels that are just 78 micrometers wide, which is why it was able to pack so many more pixels into the iPhone 4 display than the iPhone 3GS. The new screen also features 326 pixels per inch, which Apple says is far denser than the human eye can distinguish.

The Retina display has four times the number of pixels as previous iPhones; its screen size is unchanged, resulting in double the pixel density. While talking about the new display, Steve Jobs went on to detail that after a certain point the human eye fails to distinguish individual pixels. According to the Apple CEO this “magic number,” when visible pixelation is no more, is around 300ppi. Therefore, with the iPhone 4’s screen coming in at more than 300 pixels per inch (326ppi) the display will supposedly always looks smooth and crisp, with no jaggies in sight.Apple’s retina display also promises an improved contrast ratio. The company claims that the upcoming iPhone 4 will have a contrast ratio four times higher than that of previous models. Beyond the use of more compact pixels the screen, which is a backlit LED, will also adopt In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology to improve viewing angles and enhance color display

One of the most awaited feature in iphone 4 is HTML5 support. HTML 5 is being developed as the next major revision to HTML (HyperText Markup Language). It is also the proposed next standard for HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0 and DOM Level 2 HTML. The new HTML revision aims to make it more open and accesible to more people as well as follow standards that will upgrade our surfing and website experience. It seems that this year we will be seeing the full swing of HTML 5.

The iPhone 4G will run under iOS 4.0 which will have 100 new user features. These features will include folders, Multitasking, and other things which iPhone users have not seen before. IPhone 4G will feature threaded messages, the same way you see in Gmail. It will also add a new search engine called Bing while keeping Google as its default.
